Football fans and patriots up and down the country will no
doubt be crying into their cornflakes for many mornings over the summer period.
England not even qualifying for Euro 2008 has shattered dreams of what could
have been in Austria and Switzerland. Sure, the games can still be watched and
other teams followed as they battle there way to European glory, but it's just
not going to be the same.
There is one way that England can go to the Euro's this year
though, and you can be part of it like never before. With UEFA Euro 2008, you have the power in your hands to take England
(or one of the other 50+ countries) to the Euros and maybe even come out of the
other side with the cup.
But giving the players a chance to take their team through
the Euro's is not the only thing that UEFA
Euro 2008 does well, in fact it's probably one of the nicest feeling
football games to date. Admittedly you haven't got the wealth of teams
available that you have in a traditional FIFA games but every other aspect of
the game absolutely shines.
There are a host of gameplay modes available to shoot your
way through, which incorporates both single and multiplayer action.
The crowds are now more vocal than before and the weather
system has come on in leaps and bounds. If it is raining, the rain not only
looks good but also effects the physics of the ball. Certain parts of the pitch
may even become muddier than others and the ball will control differently on
these sections.
In true EA style, the soundtrack is fantastic with tracks
from various artists including Pigeon Detectives.
With a football game as rock sold as this, there has never
been a better time to have a grudge match against Portugal in an attempt to
vanquish that sadness that you may still be harboring from Euro 2004.
SCORE: 8½ / 10
