As the F1 drivers are completing their winter testing and getting themselves ready for the season ahead, you can try your hand at driving an F1 Simulator this half-term. Enter the Drivers' Challenge Event at The Race Centre in Chandler's Ford and win a great prize for you and your friends.

"We wanted to find a way to allow local under 17 year olds to compete in a fair and controlled race environment", says Adrian Thomson the owner of The Race Centre. "These simulators drive just like a real race car, and it is a challenge to get a quick time. As in F1 this year, we don't allow any driver aids like traction control, so it is up to the driver to be fully focussed, have maximum concentration and make zero mistakes if they want to take the prize on offer". Many F1 teams now use simulators throughout the year to help development of their cars and drivers.

During the half-term break The Race Centre will hold the Winner takes all sessions from February 18-22. Drivers will need to book in advance for the sessions which start with registration at 9.30am and end at 12.30pm. Each driver will drive one of the ten Race Car simulators for 20 minutes and then rest for 20 mins before driving again, throughout the morning's event. Each driver will have five 20 minute sessions which will cost only £19 per driver for the whole morning. The only limitations, drivers will need to be 5ft or over and be 16 years or younger. The prize on offer, every day, is to win an F1 Birthday Party Package for ten drivers at The Race Centre worth £130.

Adrian said "It's going to be very exciting, we are really looking forward to seeing the potential of the local young drivers"
