THE WORLD of dating can be very confusing. It can also be depressing if you're in the middle of a dry spell with no sign of a date on the horizon.
It was with this in mind that I thought it would be interesting to see a fortune teller.
I'm not sure what I think about this kind of thing but I thought it would be interesting and might give me a few pointers as to which romantic avenues to pursue and which are dead ends.
I went to see Southampton-based Rook, who has been reading tarot cards for nine years.
In addition to regular tarot cards she also uses witch cards and relies on psychic reading as well as interpreting what the cards say.
She explained that while I wanted the cards to tell me about my relationships they might not, explaining that they would tell me what was important rather than what I wanted to be told.

After I had shuffled and cut the cards she laid them out in a Celtic cross form and then turned them over. I was relieved not to see the Grim Reaper or anything else that looked too much like it spelt doom.
The good news was that the cards mostly did relate to past, present and future relationships.
Rook began by telling me about my past. The Five of Cups indicated that something bad had happened in my past which had been difficult for me to move forwards from.
Happily, though, the next card she read indicated that that period of my life was over and I was moving forward.
The reading was very positive. Rook told me that there are going to be tangible improvements in my life by the end of the year and that I was set to embark on an important relationship.
She did, however, warn me to be very careful not to get pregnant if I didn't want children yet!
The cards also indicated that I have a tendency to follow my head rather than my heart too much and that I need to find better balance and go with the flow more in order to be happy.
They also indicated that the journey I'm on has been decided for me by fate and that I have some psychic ability, which is always a nice thing to be told.
The reading did seem very pertinent. Of course, Rook could have researched me but I don't think she had.
What's more, the advice she gave - to let my guard down in relationships, not be scared of showing my true self and try to achieve more balance in my life, not to mention being careful not to get pregnant by mistake - was all sound and worth paying attention to.
The experience was pleasant and almost therapeutic.
Rook wrote the reading out for me so I can refer to it and see how much of it comes true - I'll keep you posted.
Rook charges £15 for a 45-minute to one hour tarot card reading, which she does in her own home. She also reads tarot cards at parties. For more information, visit earthspiritstore.co.uk
