Dancer Billie-Jo shows twinkle toes talent

SHE is always in the mood for dancing.

Billie-Jo Castle is the latest addition to the Daily Echo's Hampshire's Top Talent contest.

Freestyle dancer Billie-Jo, of Dibden, has been dancing ever since she could stand on her own two feet.

Now, at the age of six, she is already winning competitions in the energetic dancing style, which developed out of disco in the 1980s.

Billie-Jo has also started cheerleading at Orchard Infant School, Dibden Purlieu, and dances in a formation team consisting of a number of dancers.

Her dance teacher Chantelle Plumley said: "The formation team is a lot harder for younger dancers like Billie-Jo, because they have to work in time and in line, it has to be properly choreographed." Billie-Jo hopes to be a professional dancer when she grows up and her teacher says it is a possibility as she has "oodles of confidence".

This kind of dancing is almost as bad as the American beauty pageants. It should be banned. It gives young kids the wrong message and they all look like plastic Barbie's. Disgusting.
With a fake smile.
Poor girl.
Posted by: Jasmine, Hythe on 10:32am Tue 14 Aug 07
We do not look like plastic barbies at all and the smiles are no where near fake we smile because we are enjoying ourselfs actually!!!!!

Oh dear oh dear oh dear, such a shame that this little man once again is trying to cause an arguement with children.

Billie you have sooo much talent and we are proud of all our children who choose to ditch tv and video games and instead get fit stay fit and have fun and make many genuine friends.

With regards to Eric's comments, freestyle dancing gives kids motivation, drive, determination and above all else allows them to keep fit and meet new friends and you call this a bad thing?!?!?
Good luck to both freestyle girls and hope you continue to enjoy your dancing

Hi Eric

What sort of message would that be then? Children who are part of the freestyle world of dance are usually confident, motivated, fit, healthy, very active, strong, flexible I could go on and on and eh in which way is this a bad thing. Yes they wear make up, tan and sparkly costume but at the end of the day the costume comes off the tan and make up are washed away and their back to being the little girls that they are. The smiles you see aren't forced their there because in most cases the kids love what their doing.

I wouldn't expect you to understand though as quite clearly for whatever reason you have a problem with little kids dressing up and enjoying themselves.

Good Luck to both Billie-jo and Annalise.

ERIC YOU NEED TO GET A LIFE as long as we are all enjoying ourselves we are happy we in no way look plastic or fake because if you daughter or son started this type of dancing you wouldn't say this type of comment you'd be cheering all us dancers on
by the way you F*A*B dancers especially at your ages gurlies xXx

Obviously this person has no idea that dancers choose to compete because it is their passion and they are hugely talented. And most parents go to support their children, not to force them to be fake!! Like every sport, being recognised is a huge statement of their talent. Good Luck Billie-Jo XXX

Eric... believe me... You cannot force a child to dance with the energy and passion that these girls dance with ( and I mean all the dancers). My daughter took up dancing as a way of keeping fit, meeting new friends and to have fun. SHE asked to compete, I tried to discourage her because it can be expensive. In the end I agreed. She is happy, confident and does very well in her academic school. She is motivated and focused. She is also a very mature, sensible teenager who is not hanging around street corners, trying alcohol or drugs or causing bother in the community.
SO ..... What is wrong? Where is the badness in all this?
Leave the kids alone they are doing you no harm.

Hi All

Fantastic to see freestylers showing their talent in local talent comps, Eric Cartman the fact that you hide behind a carachter from South Park makes me wonder are you really just another jealous child or parent.
Big Up to Freestylers

Eric obviously has no idea what he is talking about. It takes guts and determination to do what these girls do and they smile cos they love it so much. My daughter has been doing this for 10 years and loves it.

Good luck to Billie-Jo and Annalise
Posted by: gaynor, hythe on 6:26pm Tue 14 Aug 07
you go Billie-Jo you have really enjoyed your dancing from an early age and genuinely enjoy whay you do. Keep the working hard and you will one day reach the top.
Just focus on all the positive comments thats what counts
Posted by: heather abbott, glasgow on 7:27pm Tue 14 Aug 07
Eric What a bad comment to make on a subject you know noting about!!

its not a beauty pagent as the girls are judged on there dancing not how they look!!

yes they put on fake tan and make up to go with their costumes but it all washes off and they dont wear it all the time
lets foucus on billie jo dancing please not how she looks and in that department she is talanted

and for thr fake smiles i dont think they can fake grins as big as they wear and dance at the same time!!

go billie jo

Ok This is going too far , I Commented Supporting Little Annalise , & Now Billie Jo Is being Targeted ??
For The Person That calls themselves ERIC CARTMAN, You should be ashamed of yourself . These wee girls have amazing Talent , & If your trying to dampen theyre spirits by Tormenting them you ave another thing coming !!! & Why do you call yourself after the little fat boy anyway ?? Do You Look Like Him ?? Do You walk about day after day with a big rain coat on & a wee wooly hat ?? GET A GRIP OF YOURSELF AND IF YOUR GONNA LEAVE CHEEK AT LEAST HAVE THE GUTS TO LEAVE YOUR REAL NAME !!
Rant over :d Go Billie Jo & Annalise :D;D

Love Danielle From DDN :D

Heya

just been reading all of these lovely comments then come across erics- i have never seen billie jo dance but she obviously has great talent and is well liked

freestyle dance is a sport and a well liked sport by a huge community

we dress up all glam because we want to. the smiles are not fake we smile as we are enjoying ourselves

and as for giving children the wrong the message whats that supposed to mean most of these dancing children are the most well behaved kind hearted children you'll ever meet
dancing gives them something to do and keep them out of trouble

dont comment until you know facts

i hope billie jo is ok after all of this
well done in the talent show im sure you were fab!

sammy jo **** (adult champ dancer! :D)

Heya

Ok i have seen Sammy-jo has wrote and she can say it how it is as she has been dancing from a young age, and is th most responsable person i think i know!

FAKE smiles WHAT!? if a child did not like what they were doing they wouldnt smile would they!
the smiles are not fake they are because they have a passion for dance.

They love to dress up for a compitition, they do not dress like that to go out!. Most freestyle disco dancers put so much work into there dance and you have no write to comment on something you know nothing about!

Also giving them the wrong message? What do you mean the message that its better to have a hobbie than to go out on the streets!, to have an interest that keeps you healthy! i think thats a pretty good message!

Im sure Billie Jo is a very talented dancer and i hope these nasty comments dont get to her

Claire
