The Baby Boom

THE Southampton indie scene has perhaps been guilty of not moving with the times in recent years; with a few honourable exceptions (the admirable Ejector Seat nights, for one), it has been stuck in a Britpop-shaped rut and seemingly oblivious to the cutting edge electro and angular post-punk aesthetics that have got the dancefloors heaving again.

With this in mind, Lennons brings you Baby Boom - the half-decent indie night. The Baby Boom nights, which will initially take place on a monthly basis, will combine live performances from the best up-and-coming bands with rocking sets from the resident DJs.

You'll hear everything from LCD Soundsystem and Hot Chip to hot new tunes from the likes of Foals, Friendly Fires, The Whip, and a host of other great new acts you've not even heard of yet, but soon will.

Baby Boom opens on Wednesday with live sets from two superb new bands. Headliners New Cassettes have been described by Channel 4 as "one of the best new bands in Britain", while 303 Did This To Me's breakneck electro pop will surely see them careering into the stratosphere before too long.
