Pint-sized singer Avril Lavigne wowed a sold out audience with her biggest hits and songs from her latest album The Best Damn Thing, and to be honest, it wasn't that far off.

As a 22-year-old male I wasn't expecting to be impressed with the pop-punk princess, but I soon found myself fully embracing her in-your-face rebellious rock 'n' roll attitude.

It's easy to forget how many hits the 23-year-old has actually racked up since her debut album Let Go went platinum at the tender age of 17, but I was soon reminded.

The Canadian rocker opened the set with an electric rendition of Girlfriend that had everyone singing along and waving their glowsticks frantically in the air.

Avril then displayed her multitude of talents by performing the drums, piano and guitar at various times in the set, as well as bouncing around the stage with her backing dancers, to her slickly choreographed dance moves.

The show was all about Avril, but the packed crowd were fully involved throughout, singing along to classics like Happy Ending, When You're Gone, Complicated and I'm With You.

Between songs the audience were treated to several displays of extraordinary street and break-dancing from her energetic backing dancers, that kept her rocking fans hyped up and ready for more. The night was wrapped up with her best-known single, Sk8ter Boi, that ensured everyone was on their feet, and that I was actually a little disappointed it all had to end.
